Our History

Founded in 1987 by the Citizens Neighborhood Coalition and the Citizens Multi-Service Center, KPADC has helped drive the extraordinary revitalization of Fall Creek Place while working to improve the quality of life throughout our area.

In the heart of KPADC is King Park, an IndyParks location with a rich history in the community. Named for Civil Rights Leader Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., this is the site where Robert Kennedy gave his speech the night King was assassinated. It has been said that Kennedy’s speech was so powerful that helped keep Indianapolis from participating in the riots that ensued around the county.

The park is home to the Peace Memorial, which honors the contributions of King and Kennedy.
